Richard House

Richard House is a very experienced bushman with more than 43 years experience, because of his special interests in the W.A. Lapidary and Rock Hunting Club, Richard has spent many a long excursion into all the vast regions of Western Australia. This included being part of the W.A. North - South Expedition in the summer of 1971-1972 which entailed traversing W.A. through the rugged outback and desert regions from Wyndham to Twilight Cove. via the Canning Stock Route.

The House family is involved in the business of honey. For more than twenty-eight years Richard has collected honey from sites all over the South West of Western Australia, including the Western Coastal Sand plain.

His time spent in the pursuit of honey has developed in Richard a keen interest in Wildflowers and through personal - private study Richard today is without doubt one of the leading private authorities on the study of wildflowers and Australian native trees.

So intense is his interest in wildflowers that his knowledge is put to good use in his tours in that not only does he know where to find the wildflowers, he knows the best times to visit the regions to see them at their best.

From 1991 Richard worked for ten years in the Travel Industry with a well-known company, one of the most professional and leading 4WD tour operators in Australia, as a driver/guide.

During this time he has conducted well over 1800 day tours to The Pinnacles, Wave Rock, Wildflower Day Tours and Extended tours to such places as the Kimberley, Canning Stock Route, Monkey Mia, Mount Augustus and the South West as well as private charters, special interest groups and wildflower tours. SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE WILDERNESS WANDERER SAFARI COACH:

• The Oka 4WD Safari Coach and the Toyota Landcruiser are registered with the transport commission as a tour coach licensed to carry 13 (Oka) passengers and 6 (Toyota) passengers.
• The 4WD Safari Coach is fully air conditioned with ducting to each seat.
• On tour communication is by UHF radio, HF radio to link with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), Australian National 4WD Radio Network Inc and the vehicle is able to remain in communication anywhere in Australia. AM/FM band radio as well as a PA system that operates through speaker system to give good clear commentary to the passengers during the tour.
• The 4WD Safari Coach is maintained on a regular basis by a fully qualified mechanic and thoroughly cleaned each day and on return from each tour. The vehicle is fitted with long range fuel tanks that give it an extended range of about 1100 kilometres.
• A water tank is also fitted to the vehicle for use over and above the normal requirements of any planned trip.
