5 Day Tour

Day One: Perth – Wave Rock – Lake King. (LD) Departing Tourist Coach Rank at 7.30am we travel out of Perth in a Southeast direction on the Brookton Highway to Brookton, in the Avon Valley, on the Western edge of the Wheat belt. After a 20-minute coffee break we head out through the grain-growing region to Wave Rock where we stop at the country kitchen for a BBQ lunch. After lunch we go to Wave Rock. Then after walking to Hippo’s Yawn for photos we will wander through the Wildlife Park to see some of Western Australia’s unusual birds and animals. Overnight: Lake King Motel.


Day Two: Lake King – Peak Charles – Esperance. (BLD) In the morning we head out east through the outback to the first of our three peaks. Peak Charles, formed of pink granite, soars four hundred and fifty metres above the surrounding sand plain. Here we climb up to watch the eagle’s soar before relaxing to enjoy our picnic lunch. Then we travel on to Esperance, stopping on the way to look at wildflowers (seasonal). Overnight: p


Day Three: Esperance – Woody Island Cruise. (BLD) This morning we go on the Mackenzie’s Bay of Isles Wildlife Cruise on the MV “Seabreeze” to Woody Island to see the wildlife of the Recherche Archipelago. We get back for free time for shopping before departing on the Great Ocean Drive which passes the Pink Lake for spectacular views of the coast. Overnight:


Day Four: Esperance – East Mount Barren – Fitzgerald River N/Pk – Bluff Knoll. (BLD) The next day we head off to the Stirlings via the coastal roads, stopping to look at wildflowers (seasonal) in nature reserves along the way. We pause to enjoy the rugged beauty of East Mount Barren, the second of our three peaks, with its unique wildflowers, on the way through the Fitzgerald River National Park. After settling in at the Stirling Range Retreat we dine by candle light at The Lily, a working Dutch Windmill, before spending the night in rammed earth cabins, in a natural bush setting, to recharge ourselves for an assault on Bluff Knoll, the third of our three peaks. Day Five: Stirling Range – Perth (BL) This morning, after an early rise to view the wildlife on the way to breakfast, we are off to Stirling Range drive to marvel at the rugged beauty of this mountain valley wilderness with its wildflowers (seasonal). Leaving the ranges behind us, we join the Albany Highway for the journey back to Perth, driving through undulating farmland, completing five wonderful days in the rugged wilderness areas of the south east of Western Australia. YOUR GUIDE, Richard House, has some 40 years experience in the wilderness regions of Western Australia and has conducted well over 1000 organised tours. Having been a beekeeper for most of those 40 years Richard is never happier than when out in the bush amongst our unique wildflowers and wildlife.
